39. The Perfect Mark

Post # 39! Woo hoo! Only one more to go until 40! So that makes this 11 posts to go. And we’ve got… *looks at calendar* 17 days until The Day of the Doctor!!!

On a completely random note, the font has changed on here. Have you guys noticed that? New font while typing a new post? It’s different. But I kinda like it! Anyway…

Okay, so we have complete opposites going on here between Once Upon a Time and Person of Interest. Once Upon a Time this week was absolutely fantastic! Person of Interest was HEARTBREAKING! At the end anyway. The rest was just madness! SO MUCH happened in this episode! It reminded me of that one episode a few weeks back with that attorney, Vanessa. “Reasonable Doubt”. That was the episode. Yesterday’s episode was a lot like that one because of all the plot twists that happened. I’m telling ya, Person of Interest episodes are like mini movies! They’re so epic and they manage to squeeze in so much in just 45 minutes.

“The Perfect Mark” is about a hypnotherapist named Hayden Price. He’s not a shabby hypnotherapist, he actually does rather well. The bad thing, though, is that he cons his patients while they’re hypnotized. He gets his patients to tell him passwords, account information, stuff like that and he steals money from them. Hayden’s got this one patient, though, who’s apparently a member of HR. If I understood things right, when Hayden was doing his con thing with him, he was really stealing HR’s money. One does not simply steal money from HR. So what started out with Finch and Reese thinking that Hayden was the perpetrator turned into them keeping Hayden from being assassinated by HR.

This was actually a pretty fun episode, right up till the very end anyway. The story kept turning on us and surprising us. At least it surprised me. I don’t know how easily surprised you guys are. :p But really, there were so many changes to the plot, new people becoming involved and stuff like that–it almost got confusing. In a good way, though. Person of Interest is always a good confusing. 🙂 The biggest surprise for me was *SPOILER ALERT!* finding out that Natalie was actually the one buying the baseball. I did NOT see that coming! That was a neat move the writers made there! It was the PERFECT thing to do! What better way to create more tension than finding out that the $4 million baseball was a fake? Well, if HR didn’t know it was fake and Hayden didn’t know it was fake, WHO WAS AFTER THE BASEBALL? I loved it!

To be honest, the episode wasn’t really what I thought it was going to be. From watching the trailer, at least to me, it looked like Finch was being hypnotized and actually the one being conned. As in Hayden would be hacking into Finch’s billionaire account and actually stealing HIS money. That would be catastrophic! I wouldn’t know what to do with myself if that happened. But I keep forgetting how genius of a guy Finch is and how he would NEVER allow someone to get into his head like that. I bet he was actually acting and that he wasn’t being hypnotized at all. Genius!

The whole Root ordeal becomes more and more unnerving by the episode. Her situation is a ticking time bomb at this point. Those books won’t keep her occupied forever. It’s only a matter of time before she finds a way out of her “prison”, and when it happens, it’s going to be disastrous.

Okay. *sniffle* The time has come to talk about the terrible thing. LASKEY!!!!! NOOOO!!!!! MY FEELS!!! Just when he was beginning to turn good. Literally JUST when I was beginning to like/trust him. JUST WHEN HE WAS GETTING THE IDEA THAT HR WAS THE WRONG PLACE TO BE, that HR scum guy came in and just ended everything! That was one of the worst things that could possibly have happened. It was like Beecher all over again. I was really beginning to like Laskey! I was looking forward to seeing him grow more and become just as good a police officer as Carter. He was so young! And only a rookie! I hope HR suffers for what they did to him, and suffers HARD. Carter made a good start by killing the guy who shot Laskey.

The only thing worse than Laskey is what’s coming up in Person of Interest. Fusco was NOT just killed in that preview! He was NOT just shot dead! No. It can’t be!! NOT FUSCO!!! I LOVE HIM!!! We haven’t been seeing much of him lately, and I’ve been missing him! His absence from the show has made me more fond of him. HE CAN’T GO!! He’s part of the family!! I suppose it shouldn’t be that much of a shock, though. We all knew this was coming. Right from episode 1 of the show, we knew that Fusco was digging a grave for himself. It really is a miracle that he’s lasted this long. But now it looks like he’s getting what’s been coming for him. It was inevitable. BUT SURELY FINCH AND REESE CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! SURELY the Machine will put up his number and Reese will save him. ‘Cause Reese always saves everybody, right? RIGHT?! Oh, I’m DREADING this next 3-parter! SO MUCH! If my heart shattered just watching the preview, I might cry when it actually happens. Oh dear…

These are dark days we’re facing. But we must stay strong, fellow Person of Interest fans! No matter what comes our way, we soldier bravely through it, just like Reese. Be strong like Reese! Be strong like Reese…

*sniffle*

35. Mors Praematura

35 posts total on this blog so far. 15 left to do. And we have…*squeak!* 24 days until The Day of the Doctor! Just one more day, and then it’ll be November!!!

One Day MoreAnyway… :p

Last night’s episode of Person of Interest…ASDFGHJKL!! I can’t! I can’t even! It was INTENSE!! It was the most intense episode of the season so far, I think. It totally didn’t go like I thought it would! WELLLLL, it ended like I thought it might, but the story didn’t progress like I thought it would. It was absolutely fantastic!!

So obviously, the big concern about this episode was Root and Shaw. Forget about the rest of the story! ROOT AND SHAW!! Root manipulated Shaw into a temporary alliance. ‘Cause that’s what she does. Manipulate people. So they were apparently working together, for unknown reasons, at the time. Reese and Finch would love to do nothing more than to focus all their attention on finding Shaw, but unfortunately, they have a new number so they have to divide forces. Reese takes over Operation: Find Shaw and Finch handles the new number. Their new number was for a guy…I wasn’t quite clear on what his occupation was…but his name was Timothy. He just found out that his foster brother, Jason, had been murdered, and he’s looking into who killed him.

First things first, let’s shed some light on our new foreign language title and head over to Google Translate to find out what it means. Knowing somewhat my Romantic languages from listening to Josh Groban regularly, the last word, I know, is “premature”. What the other word is, I have no clue. I know it’s Latin, though. So let’s see what Google Translate says. “Premature death”. Ah! I see what they did there! It’s premature because *SPOILERS* Timothy thought his brother was dead when, in fact, he wasn’t. Very clever!

I knew right from the get-go that Shaw wasn’t going to stay with Root. No matter how smoothly things went when Root told Shaw the codes and stuff she needed to know, Root is still not a woman to be trusted. That moment at the end when Shaw knocked Root out, I cheered. YUS!! Shaw doesn’t buy into your creepy know-what-to-do shenanigan business!

I must admit, I was a bit skeptical about Timothy, in the beginning. I was thinking, “Wait. What if he’s part of the group that killed Jason and he’s just trying to find out more information about him?” But it soon proved to be that he was telling the truth, and I ended up really liking him. I hope he gets to see his brother again!

There were several really intense scenes in this episode. Like heart racing, curl up in a ball and pray for the best type of moments. The first one was when Finch and Timothy went to the storage unit to see what was in there. There wasn’t anything in there, upon first glance, but once they turned on the UV light, they found a code that was painted all over the wall. Trusty Bear, however, knew that something was wrong, and seriously, THEY SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO THE DOG! But why would they? The show wouldn’t be interesting if we didn’t pose a threat to Finch here and there. Needless to say, though, I was extremely nervous because Finch and Timothy had no way of escape, once the gasoline started raining on them. But then Reese came to save the day, as always! Yay, Reese!! Another moment was when Timothy and Reese were at Jason’s apartment, and then the group stormed in, kidnapping Timothy and nearly knocking Reese unconscious. I had a feeling that Timothy would be picked up by the group at some point, but not like that! That was just dreadful what happened there!

Going off the path a little bit, and going back to Carter and Laskey for a moment. I’m really not sure what to think of Laskey at this point. It seems like he’s genuinely terrified of HR, but he’s even more afraid of Carter, it looks like. Hehehe! He SHOULD be! :p But I did feel for him a little bit when he got Carter her coffee. His hand was shaking like an earthquake was happening, the poor guy! He really opened up to Carter this time, it seemed, and he told her his real name, which is some complicated Russian name that there is no hope of me remembering so I’m just going to stick with Laskey. But I really hope he’s on the right track now. He’s really young, and just like Carter pointed out, he’s still figuring himself out I think, so I hope he’s beginning to drift over to her side.

Oh! Sean Collier! He’s that guy! From that one episode that I can’t remember! IMDb, help me here! “Nothing to Hide”. That’s the episode he’s from. Except he was PETER Collier then. He was Sean Collier in this episode. Still not entirely understanding what he’s up to, but I don’t think we’re supposed to yet. His gang is definitely going to be causing problems later on!

The last scene of the episode was the most intriguing to me. I was a bit terrified that Finch and Reese decided to hold Root in their library. It’s like putting a lion right in the middle of a herd of gazelle. But all things considered, it’s the best place for her, I guess, because now the trio can keep a closer eye on her. But I was REALLY curious to hear a conversation between Finch and Root and see what Finch thought about the way she’s talking about the Machine. It’s still kinda bothering me that Root is using the word “she” to refer to the Machine. Machines don’t have genders! It just keeps reminding me that I really do think Root has some type of mental illness. It didn’t seem to bother Finch that much, though. He thought it was “illuminating”, her choice of pronoun. But my downright favorite part of the whole episode was when Root was all like, “You’re making the Machine angry by keeping me here.” But then Finch was all like, “How can the Machine be angry about me keeping you here if this is where you’re supposed to be?” OHHHHHH!

Apply some ice water to that burn!

Apply some ice water to that burn!

Root just got OWNED! No matter how clever Root thinks she is, Finch is the REAL genius here! I loved it!

Next week’s episode. I can’t remember what it’s going to be about. Memory’s just not doing too well tonight! :p Here, let me see if I can findz trailer. IMDb is failing me this time around, but I remember the preview looking VERY interesting! But seriously, though, when is Person of Interest NOT interesting??

Okay, what do you guys think of Root? How do you feel about her actions in the show so far? Do you think she’ll find a way out of her prison?

Now tomorrow, I’m hoping to do my next movie post. I’m REALLY excited to talk about it because, like I’ve said before, it’s going to bring up a TOTALLY new fandom of mine and I’m curious to hear your thoughts on it. 🙂 And as always, I’m still open for blog post suggestions. If there’s anything fandom related that you’re curious for my opinion on, if you have a burning question to ask me or if you want a character analysis or something along those lines, go ahead and bring it up! Chances are, if it’s a fandom I’m familiar with (hint: Harry Potter, Merlin and Supernatural are NOT on the list! yet.), I’ll talk about it. Pretty much anything to get those 15 more posts by November 23rd.

Well, hope you all have a wonderful night and a fantastic rest of the week! Just over halfway to Saturday! We can do it!! Goodnight, everybody. 🙂
