39. The Perfect Mark

Post # 39! Woo hoo! Only one more to go until 40! So that makes this 11 posts to go. And we’ve got… *looks at calendar* 17 days until The Day of the Doctor!!!

On a completely random note, the font has changed on here. Have you guys noticed that? New font while typing a new post? It’s different. But I kinda like it! Anyway…

Okay, so we have complete opposites going on here between Once Upon a Time and Person of Interest. Once Upon a Time this week was absolutely fantastic! Person of Interest was HEARTBREAKING! At the end anyway. The rest was just madness! SO MUCH happened in this episode! It reminded me of that one episode a few weeks back with that attorney, Vanessa. “Reasonable Doubt”. That was the episode. Yesterday’s episode was a lot like that one because of all the plot twists that happened. I’m telling ya, Person of Interest episodes are like mini movies! They’re so epic and they manage to squeeze in so much in just 45 minutes.

“The Perfect Mark” is about a hypnotherapist named Hayden Price. He’s not a shabby hypnotherapist, he actually does rather well. The bad thing, though, is that he cons his patients while they’re hypnotized. He gets his patients to tell him passwords, account information, stuff like that and he steals money from them. Hayden’s got this one patient, though, who’s apparently a member of HR. If I understood things right, when Hayden was doing his con thing with him, he was really stealing HR’s money. One does not simply steal money from HR. So what started out with Finch and Reese thinking that Hayden was the perpetrator turned into them keeping Hayden from being assassinated by HR.

This was actually a pretty fun episode, right up till the very end anyway. The story kept turning on us and surprising us. At least it surprised me. I don’t know how easily surprised you guys are. :p But really, there were so many changes to the plot, new people becoming involved and stuff like that–it almost got confusing. In a good way, though. Person of Interest is always a good confusing. 🙂 The biggest surprise for me was *SPOILER ALERT!* finding out that Natalie was actually the one buying the baseball. I did NOT see that coming! That was a neat move the writers made there! It was the PERFECT thing to do! What better way to create more tension than finding out that the $4 million baseball was a fake? Well, if HR didn’t know it was fake and Hayden didn’t know it was fake, WHO WAS AFTER THE BASEBALL? I loved it!

To be honest, the episode wasn’t really what I thought it was going to be. From watching the trailer, at least to me, it looked like Finch was being hypnotized and actually the one being conned. As in Hayden would be hacking into Finch’s billionaire account and actually stealing HIS money. That would be catastrophic! I wouldn’t know what to do with myself if that happened. But I keep forgetting how genius of a guy Finch is and how he would NEVER allow someone to get into his head like that. I bet he was actually acting and that he wasn’t being hypnotized at all. Genius!

The whole Root ordeal becomes more and more unnerving by the episode. Her situation is a ticking time bomb at this point. Those books won’t keep her occupied forever. It’s only a matter of time before she finds a way out of her “prison”, and when it happens, it’s going to be disastrous.

Okay. *sniffle* The time has come to talk about the terrible thing. LASKEY!!!!! NOOOO!!!!! MY FEELS!!! Just when he was beginning to turn good. Literally JUST when I was beginning to like/trust him. JUST WHEN HE WAS GETTING THE IDEA THAT HR WAS THE WRONG PLACE TO BE, that HR scum guy came in and just ended everything! That was one of the worst things that could possibly have happened. It was like Beecher all over again. I was really beginning to like Laskey! I was looking forward to seeing him grow more and become just as good a police officer as Carter. He was so young! And only a rookie! I hope HR suffers for what they did to him, and suffers HARD. Carter made a good start by killing the guy who shot Laskey.

The only thing worse than Laskey is what’s coming up in Person of Interest. Fusco was NOT just killed in that preview! He was NOT just shot dead! No. It can’t be!! NOT FUSCO!!! I LOVE HIM!!! We haven’t been seeing much of him lately, and I’ve been missing him! His absence from the show has made me more fond of him. HE CAN’T GO!! He’s part of the family!! I suppose it shouldn’t be that much of a shock, though. We all knew this was coming. Right from episode 1 of the show, we knew that Fusco was digging a grave for himself. It really is a miracle that he’s lasted this long. But now it looks like he’s getting what’s been coming for him. It was inevitable. BUT SURELY FINCH AND REESE CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! SURELY the Machine will put up his number and Reese will save him. ‘Cause Reese always saves everybody, right? RIGHT?! Oh, I’m DREADING this next 3-parter! SO MUCH! If my heart shattered just watching the preview, I might cry when it actually happens. Oh dear…

These are dark days we’re facing. But we must stay strong, fellow Person of Interest fans! No matter what comes our way, we soldier bravely through it, just like Reese. Be strong like Reese! Be strong like Reese…
